Meet Andreina
I was born in Miami, Florida to a Venezuelan mother and a Spanish father. I was raised with strong roots to my hispanic culture. Growing up I became fascinated with learning more about languages and cultures. I was fortunate enough to go to two magnates school for languages; Sunset Elementary and G. W. Carver Middle school where I perfected my reading and writing skills in Spanish. I then went on to MAST Academy Senior High School where I dabbled in two years of beginner French and also where my passion for sustainability and the betterment of the environment flourished. That brings us to the present, to Florida International University, where I was giving the opportunity to learn Portuguese for a year. I am now a senior pursuing a dream towards creating the best version of me that exists while helping everyone I can along the way.
I was the 2017-2018 vice president and co-captain of the Women's Rugby Club on campus. Aside from rugby I am also working a part time job and am actively involved in two internships this semester. One with the International Solidarity for Human Rights where I work under the supervision of Devorah Sasha the executive director and founder and Elizabeth Sanchez-Vega the president and founder of ISHR. The second is on campus with the Office of University Sustainability also known as FIU Go Green, as the Waste Minimization intern I work under FIU Staff Member Connie Caldwell. I have always had a strong work ethic that is based around aiding those in need of my assistance. Through this program and the opportunities I have been afforded at FIU I have found a way to connect global engagement and helping others to sustainability and helping the planet. |
